I. FOR ALL DAN RANKS: All promotion recommendations and applications for USJI Dan rank certificates must be processed through the applicant's Class B member association's Promotion Committee according to its established procedures. An INDIVIDUAL may NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES apply directly to the USJI for a rank promotion or certification. Any such direct individual application will be summarily rejected. II. FOR PROMOTION RECOMMENDATIONS TO DAN RANKS WITHIN THE MAXIMUM RANK PROMOTION AUTHORIZED FOR A CLASS B MEMBER ASSOCIATION'S PROMOTION COMMITTEE: The following forms are to be sent to the chairperson of the USJI Rank Registration Committee:
III. FOR PROMOTION RECOMMENDATIONS TO DAN RANK BEYOND THE MIXIMUM RANK AUTHORIZED FOR A CLASS B MEMBER ASSOCIATION'S PROMOTION COMMITTEE:
Special Instructions: USJI Dan Rank Promotion Form: The Recommendation for USJI Dan Promotion form contains a checklist of the required materials. It is extremely important:
List of Candidates' Names: All information for this form must be typed or printed clearly and accurately, because the Dan Rank Certificate is based on the information provided on this form.
Preparations for Promotion (individual Record): a. All information for this form must be typed or printed clearly and accurately. b. The section of Promotion History must be complete and accurate from the rank of Ikkyu on up. c. For the section on Major Shiai Record, simply saying, for example, "lst place in AmCan Judo Challenge" is not adequate. Each applicant must identify the name and rank of each opponent, and the result of each match. And no given opponent's name is to appear more than once. For example, Joe may have won against Jack Wilson during both the 1995 and 1996 Am-Can Judo Challenge; for the Major Shiai Record, Joe may enter a contest with Jack Wilson only once. The results of intra-dub or inter-club contests will not be credited; do not list them. The scale of the contest must be greater than a regional contest. d. Contest winning points are credited as follows:
e. Do not write anything in the section for USJI Endorsement. f. The Chairperson of the Promotion Committee of the Class B member association must personally provide endorsement in the section for Endorsement. Promotion Fees: All materials and promotion fees, payable to United States Judo, Inc,, should be securely packaged and submitted by the chairperson of the Class B member association's Promotion Committee to the chairperson of the USJI Rank Registration Committee. Materials which arrive with postage due will not be accepted. IV. TO OBTAIN DUPLICATE USJI CERTIFICATES:
C. The fee schedule is the same as the USJI Promotion Fee schedule (see, Item III, Section E). A check or money order payable to United State Judo, Inc. , should be attached to the application form. V. TO OBTAIN AN IJF DAN RANK CERTIFICATE:
C. The current fee for obtaining an IJF Dan Rank Certificate is $30.00. A check or money order payable to United States Judo. Inc. should be attached to the application form. D. An applicant's receipt of the IJF Dan Rank Certificate may be delayed by several months, because the applications (which go from the USJI to the PJU to IJF) are usually processed only once every four to six months.
VI. CURRENT CHAIRPERSON OF THE USJI RANK REGISTRATION COMMITEE:

OHIO STATE JUDO, INC. JUNIOR RANK PROMOTION GUIDELINES The Guidelines for Promotion by Class B Members. Subject: Junior Promotional Requirements for Males and Females. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A "Junior" is defined as a person 16 years of age or less. If an instructor elects to promote a junior player in the senior system, the player must meet all the requirements of the senior system. Juniors will be transferred to senior rank on the basis of having completely demonstrated that level of knowledge in junior tests. All chokes or armlocks not previously demonstrated due to age must be demonstrated. There will be a greater number of junior ranks than senior ranks. All senior level skills and knowledge requirements will be distributed throughout the twelve junior rank levels. This will make it possible for the juniors to learn and progress without being discouraged by having to master a large body of information at one time.
