As many of you already know, the Dayton, Ohio area (specifically Trotwood, Dayton, Huber Heights and Beavercreek) was hit last Monday with 3 tornados, causing significant damage to many businesses and homes.  Fortunately the Dayton area had no deaths from these storms (there was 1 death in Celina from this storm front) but there were numerous injuries and a lot of physical damage.  As far as I know, there were no physical injuries to the Judo community but we did encounter property damage.

The DAMAC Judo Club, run by the Curry family, lost its Dojo (located in the old Salem Mall) as a result of the tornado that hit Trotwood.  They were able to salvage some equipment, but the shattered front windows and falling ceiling debris has made their mat area and other critical parts of the club unusable trash.  With help they plan to reopen at a new location in the future.

DAMAC has been in operation since the early 70's and has provided life experience guidance, as well as instruction in our beloved sport, to many young men and women over the years.  Starting with Mr. Ernie Curry and continuing with Mark and Galen today, they have provided a place of refuge and enlightenment to many.

I encourage all to keep DAMAC in your thoughts and prayers.  There are two ways to financially help with their recovery -

1) a direct donation to the Dayton Martial Arts Center (DAMAC) Judo Club which can be sent to:DAMAC, 926 W. Fairview Ave., Dayton, OH  45406 or

2) a Go Fund Me account has been set up at   https://www.gofundme.com/rebuild-damac?pc=fb_dn_cpgnstaticsmall_r&fbclid=IwAR1S7tXlvDdXTieusI4uKiNNsrBOmzynehlARMKrB8wYNG1wFuFz4W0HnGg

Let;s show the Judo spirit and support our Judo family!
